Calling All Tricky Tray Experts!

19 years 9 months ago #92565 by Bertha
On the subject of containers--- go to your local supermarket and ask them to donate the 2lb. salad containers9from the deli) with lids. I did that and they hold a lot of tickets and with the lids it prevents people from sticking in their hands and pulling other tickets out!

Mine are also clear. They are also great to save and store for the following auction. We've passed mine all around town to the different schools for the passed 6 years.

We just call ours a "Drawing". We have 4-6 featured items like this at our silent auction. For containers, we use clear gallon size jars since we agree it's good if people can see the tickets stacking up. They have lids with slits cut in the top.

Hi Nonsequitir!

I just went over the raffle ticket prices with another member(Bertha). When we do ours here we have a table with small prizes, a table with medium prizes, a table with large prizes, and a table with grand prizes.

small prizes are $50 and under and we sell tickets
$3/sheet or 4 sheets for $10. These are special Chinesse auction/tricky tray tickets that contain 25 tickets on the sheet. These are the ones they get a sheet of when they pay admission. They also have a door prize ticket attached.

Medium prizes are valued between $50-$100. Tickets for these are 8 tickets for $5 or 18 tickets for $10.

Large prizes are valued at $100-$125. Tickets for these are 5 tickets for $5 or 12 tickets for $10.

Grand Prize items are values at $125 and up. Tickets for these sell for $2 for 1 ticket or 6 tickets for $10.

Critter, how many items do you do in your raffle? I like the clear boxes. We used open baskets so people could see the other tickets. If you had a lot of items, it would be hard to watch the baskets.

Also we were considering selling raffle tickets for $2, 3 for $5. Could you do that with the tricky tray or is it $1 per entry?

Just to clarify...what we call a "raffle" at our auction is like your tricky tray. We have a ticket collection box for each item (actually we used corsage boxes from a florist so they were clear - people could gage their chances before they dropped their ticket in). This is the only way to make more than face value on a gift certificate. We had over $50 worth of raffle tickets in the box for a $20 grocery store gift certificate. No one would ever overbid like that if the item were a stand-alone silent auction item.

Bummer. I was thinking that this was a good solution to my problem. I think we may have too many auction items by October to fit them all in the gym. (I know - wah, wah ;) ) I was trying to think of a way to put some things in the library. But when the auction closes we'd have to carry items through the middle of the carnival to one cashier station.

But if we could have a "Raffle Room," then I don't have to worry about getting the items from the library to the cashier's station in the gym. We are already planning to do 3-4 raffle items any way. We have people put the ticket in a basket for the item they want to win, not a truly random raffle.
