You could make her a list of guidelines and expectations and tell her this is how your board needs it to work. Our bylaws say that chair reports and decisions have to come through the board first. You may want to put that in big bold letters.

If I am not correct on this, but isn't Chairs appointed by the Prez? At least that's how I have it in my bylaws. I would remind her that she is working for the Board and has to answer to the respected head of that chaired committee (e.g.- I head up the Rewards Committee). If she refuses to work within your expectations, you have the right to ask her to step down and cease. I hope this helps somewhat.

I have had to deal with a similar situation twice but fortunately both individuals were not the bossy type you seem to have on your hands. Is there something else she can do that can't be screwed up or mismanaged or if it is, it doesn't really matter?

By the way, Bertha, I would love to have you here - you seem like my kind of woman!!

Thanks ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I probably already knew this deep down, but this is my first year and I didn't want to PO anybody right off the bat. But this chick has just done too many things wrong.
I know she's going to be one of those people who causes a major stir about things. You should see her at the PTO meetings!!!UGH She's the one person you wish wouldnt show up.
Well I will update tomorrow after I call her and change pretty much everything she has done.

Bertha Bertha
she's our gal
if she won't tell ya how
no one can!
:D :D :D
I think to to CYA I would FYI the Principal just incase she goes straight to their office to raise a fit! Also once you get the contracts and make a couple copies (trust me on that one!) you then need well informed volunteers on the job!

It's going to be hard not to... this gal off and be ready for retalliation but golly shucks....one person  or everyone :D because of a successful event

Deep breath...e-mail the Principal (documentation) and start your phone calls!

May the force be with you!! (okay...Star Wars is on in the background!!)

LOL!!! Leave it to you Bertha to get me out of my "forum lurking" of the past couple of months!!! :D

Hey Cindy - Ditto what Bertha said
My two cents: First, who is running the show? Unfortunately, as President one of the necessary qualities you need to have is the ability to "handle" people - all kinds. This "president wannabe" must be handled. You need to tell her that there are rules, procedures and they need to be followed. She needs to back down and if she wants to run the show maybe she should run for President at the conclusion of your term. If you do not get a handle on this person, you (being the President) will ultimately be responsible for all the things that can go wrong. This person is OVERSTEPPING - did I say that loud enough? - OVERSTEPPING her bounds.
Good luck and muster up that inner fortitude and deal with her - the sooner the better. ;)
