Borrowed uniforms not being returned

17 years 6 months ago #104927 by LUVMYKIDS
We don't wear uniforms, but the nurse does have a supply of extra clothes for accidents and such. Every fall I give her outgrown jeans and tees that she can use. No expense out of the school's or PTO's pocket and I'm getting rid of items that are too good to throw away.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

I would sew a tag on the inside that says property of XYZ school. I wouldnt buy new ones to resupply the nurse though I would ask for gently used donations from parents. Also send the note home to let the parent know.

Or couldn't you purchase plain blue shirts or something that wouldnt be so expensive to replace but the parents would realize that it came from the nurses office but not have the writing all over it.

I agree with wring the school in big letters over it would be like the Scarlet Letter syndrome.

I like that. That's cute enough to put in a newsletter as a friendly reminder thing.

Well done, NOT Carrot Top!

From the sound of your request you are looking for something with a cute friendly tone. Here is something I came up with. I am not good at writing so if we have some English majors out there that want to tweek this go ahead.

Dear Parent:

Today a school your child needed a new change of clothes. So our kind Nurse lent them a spare set from her closet. She said that these are special and need to come back so others may use them as well. So please launder the spares and return them so we can be prepared to help others.

Reminder that if you have old uniforms that are still in good condition that your children have outgrown, the Nurse would love to be able to stock her closet full!!

well, i could see " clinic" on the shirt for older kids if they consider it a badge of honor, that is much different than how I read your post..

If the school demands that no child wear street clothes for any portion of the day, even in case of staying dry after an accident, then it would seem reasonable that the school foot the bill for replacements uniforms that dont get returned? I dont see how that bill should be footed by the parent group. Seems like a school policy thing you have going on. Something to ask your principal about, the monies youre spending on those replacements..

And they would take that money outta the Clinic budget so we help save their money by helping with the donation of 10 pairs of pants, 10 shirts, underwear and socks. And for you silly thinkers, if you wet down, your socks get wet too! Kids in gym class are S.O.L.
The CLINIC on the back of the shirt is considered a "badge of honor" and a HA HA not a Scarlet letter. If your 16 and needed help because of a bloody nose, they would rather borrow a old tee than wear a bloody shirt all day. Mom? She's at work and thankful we could help (and she donates shirts that her child outgrew!). THe other garments we have are marked on the inside. Just as I wouldn't ask my own children to wear a shirt with a sibblings' name on it, I am sensitive to the idea of "marking the butt" of a garment.

We look at it as a community service more than a "PTO Expense". ;)
