Are your meetings "fun" or "all business"?

ours are usally all business. and last 15-30 min.

the biggest turnouts are when we cleverly attach the school choir, band, or classroom play or song production, to the end of our meetings.

its AMAZING whow many parents show up for those meetings, and lots of DADS come too, and once thery are ther, they contribute ideas which we would otherwise never hear (at least, I hvae NEVER seen a dad at a meeting before we added the kiddie productions to the tail end of meetings......).

obviously, those meetings are held in early evenings.

I'm wondering what other groups do at their general membership meetings. I know that a certain amount of business must be attended to, but do you do other things at the meetings as well? Things that are fun to encourage attendance and involvement? What about guest speakers?

This year and last year the meetings at our school have been all business. Attendance is getting pretty low, and I'd like to try something new next year to get people fired up and want to come.

Anyone have any ideas?
