That would be the tough one for me. I wouldn't mind a small amount of funds spent, but how often and on who? We had years when the VP was practically a ghost and did virtually nothing. We had specific committees - like Carnival - where the hours the chair put in exceeded the president's.

To do across the board thank you gifts every year for all the officers/chairs, would be too much for me (much as these folks DO deserve appreciation).

I'd be more willing for special situations.

I disagree. Having been PtA VP for 1 year and president for 3, I know how much work these ladies put in.I may go overboard but I really appreciated them. Granted, if you have a group that is just so-so, then I suppose you do what you want. We had about $200 for gifts budgeted(it was approved) and then i had them to dinner at my house. I had a womens tea for them and it was wonderful. They felt appreciated and many are still going strong with other volunteer oppurtunities. Yes it is volunteer ,and thats why they should be rewarded. If you want others to join in then you need to show how much you need them. Also during my time, I put their names in letters sent home to thank them.

I definately don't think PTO funds should be used, but a token thank you gift is always nice. I am planning to give my officers a great little book I found called "Confessions of Super Mom". We are all women this year. It may not work for all, but it is a funny easy summer read. I think I read there may be a sequel coming out. Next years gifts are set:)

What a great idea! Our Treasurer is staying on next year! So I will have to say something to her about that!!!

I personally don't see anything wrong with spending $10 or $20 on a person who has been so dedicated to their school.
