PTA Officer Name Badges

When my kids were in elementary, we printed pin/clip name badges for the key officers and committee members (the kind you would see at a conference).

The badge holders can be a little pricey to buy a whole box (usually 100), but if you ask around, you can probably find someone to donate them. I run some conferences and recycle the plastic badgeholders. They can be re-used a lot. And don't necessarily need the perforated badge stock. For just a few, print on paper or cardstock and cut with scissors.

We had a basket where we asked volunteers to leave their badges and wear when in the school. I also kept a bag of extra holders. Periodically I'd print another batch of inserts as people would inevitably wear them home or leave them in their car.

The badges were very distinctive and helped us be more identifiable.

Of course now, things are different. There's a computer station in the office where any visitor must check in and slide their driver's license in the slot. It verifies your ID and prints out a visitor namebadge complete with photo! All visitors must wear those when in building.

You could all wear the same color shirts (something you all probably already own) ...... You could post photos of each board member on your website.....Your stick-on name badges could oversized and written in the same bright colored marker.....

Jewel,

Thanks for the insight. We are tying to find a way to seem more indentifiable when at events or even just in the school. The name tag came up. Anything you might suggest?

No matter how inexpensive an item, your board needs to decide if it is a meaningful, worthwhile, and justifyable expense. Based on my "filter" of PTO experience, I would vote "no" to engravable nametags as our board would not find the purchase to be meaningful, worthwhile, or justifyable.
