Checked out new PEX -- Parent Express Email?

13 years 8 months ago #154484 by Jewel
I haven't been satisfied with the appearance of email sent through PTOManager. There's one typeface and no features (bolding, color font, italicize, underlining, etc.). The emails sent through PTO Manager look very generic and uninviting to read.

The PEX homepage states we can:
[*]Customize with school colors and fonts for added impact

However, when clicking on the "Learn More" button, there is no info about fonts.

I do not recommend PEX to anyone. I've spent 4 hours today trying to send an email. Very important issues have been overlooked ... I don't believe the BETA testing for this software was done by end users (or at all)???

--- cannot upload custom fields -- only name and email address as the "add member screen" contains only this information. You can put in phone --- but have to go one by one to edit screen --- nightmare!

--- formatting does not work with gmail--- Do you know how many people use google these days. ----

--- email archive says email was sent to entire list when actually was just sent to one person -- the editor. This information is very misleading ... the archive is useless.

I can go on but won't because I still haven't been able to send an email that could have been done in 20 minutes in Constant Contact. I've lost an entire afternoon on this.

Please renegotiate with CC.

Thanks!

I'm playing around with it this afternoon. Once I saw Grapevine, I was wondering what the deal was with Constant Contact (CC). So I guess you're saying that partnership is coming to an end?

This does seem more like an email/message system vs. a newsletter. We were using the CC version for both things. On the positive side, it does seem like the new PEX is an easier way to send basic professional looking emails. On the con side, we had a monthly e-newsletter that we were sending out, and I don't see a template that really works for that. But maybe I'm just missing something.

We've had a whole team here working for months completely re-building our PEX service from scratch (along with our new partners at GroupVine). I'm extreeeemeley excited about the service.

I'd love to hear feedback from our illustrious community members. Anything -- sign-up process, the service itself, good, bad, awesome.

It's here: www.ptotoday.com/parentexpress/

If you're an existing PEX user (with our Constant Contact solution), you'll be getting an email next week with an invitation to transition (and we're making the transition really easy). I think you guys especially will love the changes.

If you're not familiar, PEX is a free email service for PTOs and PTAs. So simple even I can use it, this is the tool groups have been waiting for to easily and quickly get emails out to all the parents at your school or select subsets (just 3rd grade parents, for example) of parents at your school.

Thanks in advance for any feedback. We'll be making continued improvements throughout the fall.
