Hi - I am a new PTO mom (my son just entered K)and I am frustrated after one PTO meeting. Our PTO is regrouping and in a great deal of turmoil. I went to the first meeting and found out I was the only new parent to come. I wanted to participate but was immediately shot down by a member. I don't want to cause problems, but the group isn't popular in our town and as an outsider, I can see some areas I can help. I believe our prez has a heart of gold, but seems very unorganized. Since this is all new to me, I am not sure how the PTO works. Can anyone offer any advice? I am planning to return to the next meeting and have been researching several PTO items and suggestions to offer to the group for discussion. Our PTO seems to be focused on fundraising and not what we are doing for the kids.
