Executive Board members

In the past our school has always sent out
nomination forms to all parents. The ones that
send them back in are the ones that are usually the ones that get on the board because no one else wants to do it. There have been times that no one has never returned anything and then at the time I think the staff seems to be the
ones to do the recruiting. That's the only way that I've known for it to be done. I think so this way no one can never say they never knew or
have had the opportunity to be on the board.

How do you select new board members. Last year we nominated people, but the board only nominated people they knew. Most people were friends of some one, etc. Some people on this years board are on there just to say they are on the board, which leaves a few hard workers to get everything done. how can we get good board members? Can we just send a form out asking for people who are interested, and then pick our board from the forms that are returned. I know I was always involved at the school, but no one aked me to be on the board until my son became friends with the past president. PLease help with this. Thanks
