I think this is a great idea!! We are in Mississippi and my son's 4th grade class all have pen pals in Saipan!! His teacher went to school with a teacher who is now over there and that's how they got it going. The kids all think it's the coolest!! I wish all of the classes in our school had pen pals because it's a really great learning experience for the kids...especially if the pen pals are in another country. I've come across some teacher sites on the internet that have info on establishing pen pals. It's worth a try!
Hi! Never done this either, but I have read about others doing it. My son is also in 2nd grade, and while I don't know if his teacher would be interested or not (I'll ask her), I know for a fact that he personally would love it!
Where are you? We are in South Florida, in a public school. And, are you interested in snail mail pen-pals or e-mail pen-pals? I'll try to come back later to see your answers before talking to his teacher. This could be fun!
Hi, I think this is a great idea. My son did this 2 years ago in 2nd grade, now my daughter is in 2nd grade and they have no pen pals. We live in Oshkosh, WI, I will talk to her teacher today to see if she whats to do this again. Let me know what you think!

I was approached by my sons 2nd grade teacher and sbe had asked me if i would help her find pen pals for the 20 kids in her class... She has always wanted to do it and just never had the time. Has anyone ever done this and if so how did you find out the information... Any help would be great [img]smile.gif[/img] We would love to have over seas pen pals but will take anyone.
