holiday family programs

At our church we have a St. Nick party with the guest of honor coming to talk to the kids. Even the "big kids" sit on his lap....maybe it's for the candy!

We do crafts, play musical chairs, and decorate our 12 foot Christmas tree (well, half of it!) Last year we even had 2 twelve foot tables set out with cookies on them for the kids to decorate! The kids had a blast....that's all I'll share about that! HA!! We also had homemade playdough for the toddlers to play with if mom or grandma didn't want them to have a cookie.

Lota of fun and many did stay to help with the clean up too!

Thanks, chgpta that's a great idea. People would be able to store them easier with the decorations still on too.

I also thought of just doing the classroom trees for display and letting the kids take their ornaments home, then we could reuse the trees. We would auction off just trees done by the music dept., art dept. or other groups.

Maybe we could do the trees for display and auction wreaths! Then everyone would be happy because they got something out of the event.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

In response to LuvMyKids, my school looked at that idea also (our children's hospital has an actual Festival of Trees) and thought we would do wreaths instead of trees (less bulky to carry home, less money upfront from our group). Just a thought.

We have our high school band come to the elementary school to play holiday music for the kids. We charge $1.00 per family and donate it to their music booster club.
Real Simple but the parents and kids love it.

I was going to suggest we do something next year. My thought was to have each classroom decorate a tree with a theme of their choice and have a festival of trees for the whole community to see. We'd charge admission, serve refreshments, and auction the trees off. I'm going to suggest it at our next meeting, because we could probably get a bargain on trees at the end of this Christmas season.
