Still Feelin' Blue

Big hugs from me!
I am sorry things are like this. :(

What about offering to grade papers and help make copies and that kind of thing? You could even offer teachers in 3rd grade so you get an idea of what they are doing and your child will be doing next year. Have you talked with the school counselor about helping with things like Red Ribbon week and stuff like that? Go to the library also, and see if they need help with anything. Also the art and music teachers are usually in need of something. Kindergarten teachers, even though they have para-pro's, usually always have something. Have you been to your child's 1st grade teacher and offered to help her. She already knows you, and how involved you are as a parent and that will help. Have you thought about being a substitute? That would help get you back in the doors.

Christmas is just around the corner and surely they will need help with Santa Shop and christmas party. Start planning for those things.

Go to the park with the kids, walk around the block and admire the different color leaves, make birdfeeders from pinecones, make a leaf collage, etc. There are lots of things you can do with the kids right now that don't include money.

You could always move to GA--we have tons of things you can do to be involved!!!

Oh me--I was afraid you were going to go through something like this. You had much of your heart and soul invested in the organization and now that part is not there any longer. It hasn't been too long however, and maybe if you could find something that isn't being done and volunteer to do that...maybe a student directory, maybe an email account program, or a website...something that will allow your talents to come through and a real asset to things at the PTO. I know that with your desire there is something you can do ... volunteer with the library or run a program after school (I could get you information on the book club we run--which is one school one book--this year we are starting with Charlotte's web so there is a ton of stuff. You could offer to run a half hour after school book club with some volunteers...low cost...high impact and activity).
It is still not going to fill the void because you had been doing so much. Keep your head clear and maybe this is God's message to slow down a bit. Trust me...it's better than having him break your neck . It isn't so bad to focus on yourself and take off where you left off....college classes, cooking classes, part time stuff....or start a "help box" at the school where teachers know they can put things with a note and you'll come in and take care of them.
Anyway--just a few ideas....I hope they help as does typing to get it off your chest.

Hang in there...d

Hi everyone. Tomorrow is the first meeting since I've resigned, and I can't be there. They are electing the new officers and I feel so totally left out! I tried to contact my son's teacher about helping out and "as a rule the 2nd grade teachers don't have room moms". I volunteered to organize the halloween party and another mom is already doing that. I'm on the outs with our principal so that doesn't help any. I really didn't want to resign but felt I had no choice with the negativity I was getting non-stop from fellow officers and then the principal too. All I ever wanted was to be involved, this stinks!!! Last year I was room mom and did everything from color pictures, make copies, help organize parties, whatever I could when ever I could. This year I feel like I can't even step foot in the door. The worst part is I still can't figure out why and noone will fill me in. My husband keeps saying that I didn't do anything that it just happens to be the type of people I'm dealing with. Ughhh. :( Part of my helping so much at school was because I enjoyed it and it didn't cost me anything out of pocket. Now I feel like anything I'm gonna do with my kids has to cost me money so we can go out of the house some place.
