We have a Fine Arts Festival. The permission slip that goes home for all band and chorus members clearly states that students must stay for the entire program. If they cannot stay for the entire program and be respectful of the other groups, they will not be allowed to join.
That way, if the kids can't leave, the parents don't have any reason to get up and leave. Where are they going when their child must stay until the end?

Fine Arts Festival or FIne Arts Night. But, if they don't want to stay the won't. I think that is just plain reality.

Have you tried to hold the meeting first, then the musical portion after the meeting? I'd think that parents would get there early to get a good seat, and would be there for the meeting.

Hello, Each year we have 2 band concerts which coincide with our general meetings. One in December and one in May. Each grade band (6,7,8) plays two songs and I am sad to see parents get up and leave after their child has played. I thought if we had the chorus sing between bands and art displayed in the lobby we could get a better turn out and promote our school arts. Does anyone have any ideas on what we could call this? Does anyone else do anything similar? Thanks for your help.
