Statistics Needed to Educate

Our school is public and we raise over $400.00 per student. We need the money in our state (CA), cause the state forgets to pay for music, art, pe, and supplies especially if your students already speak english..

However the key to private school success over public is two things.

1) parents at privates donate because they want the best, and they also want their chid "in" next year.
2) private schools have fund raising departments, everyone's email, and the support of the school to getting parent informed and involved.

In public schools we battle dinosaur districts, who still have no email systems, and places where if your principal is not a person who will say thank you and explain how important the extra dollars are, then it's challenging to spread the word.

Just keep using ptomanager-volunteer manager and get your parents to understand your need, and before you know it with positive thought and lots of good info, parents will donate. Positive thoughts, a few fun events, and a good explanation of need can make all the difference.

Well naabs, that's a slightly different question than your first. Why didn't you say so? :-)

Here's our feature story (lots of good stuff, but not really the specific cites):

www.ptotoday.com/articles/article.php?article=0106parent.html

Bet this story from our SchoolFamily.com site may also be helpful: 5 Reasons To Get Involved

And here's a direct link to a 241-page compendium of research

www.sedl.org/connections/resources/evidence.pdf

And here's a direct link to an older (1994) 174-page compendium that has some of the basic research/findings we often quote (better grades, fewer discipline problems, etc.)

www.eric.ed.gov/ERICDocs/data/ericdocs2s...019b/80/13/66/e0.pdf

Good luck.

I am looking for statistics on successful PTO's with successful students .(grades and confidence)

Also I am looking for statistics of how much $ private schools raised and their students success.

Also if there are any private school PTO members who can share how much they raised last year, and what their targeted group of people were.
