Planning for next year ??

This is my issue with her though we have given her the info she just chooses to ignore it. On her survey she sent in she said that all members should have the final vote for the fundraisers.

Which I don't think is right I am all for suggestions, but when we are the ones having to run it, trying to make enough profit, not interfere with other schools and all that. I don't think choosing the fundraisers should go to the memebers for a vote.

Maybe I am wrong, but after doing them for 3 years I just know some fundraisers work for our school and others don't. She just can't comprehend all the factors that are involved inchoosing one.

I know we have to give this person a job in the PTO so she can understand all that goes on, but what I don't know because at this point no one wants to deal with her. She has turned alot of officers and parents off.

I am the Fundraising Chairperson and I send out emails to my committee as well as putting a small blurb in our newsletter asking for suggestions via email. We have a committee meeting to discuss any ideas and then present our final ideas to the board at our next meeting. Fortunately for me, no one usually questions our decisions. (mostly because none of them are going to step up to the plate to help out) Sometimes we have to tweak here or there mostly on timing issues. If this person isn't on your committee - guess what ............ I love the 5 minute rule! Worst comes to worst, you just have to say "thank you for your input but it's time to move on".

Maybe you can cut her off at the pass and offer to explain the processes to her so she understands. Our next year's board is all pretty new. Part of the process is getting them up to snuf on how the group does business so it can remain effective. They're great and are going to be fabulous...but you're right. If you don't know the process then you really can get frustrated....

OOOOH I like the idea of sending it to the fundraising committee.. Guess who ME!!!

I stepped down as president and took on fundraising chairperson.

We had our meeting yesterday and I timed the meeting topic of the funraisers and events ideas. Worked out great!!!

Still have other issues with this parent but we are trying to get that under control. The problem is she doesnt understand the whole process of the PTO and doesn't ask questions just tells people what she wants and doesn't listen to the answers.

wow can i just say our meetings never last over an hour. lately they've only been about 30 minutes or a little less. are we doing something wrong?

i think the time table on discussions are a wonderful idea, wtg! if the lady has so many suggestions but never volunteers i agree that you should tell her that if she wants to do the work for whatever she suggested then go ahead and if not, then maybe it's not something that can be done right now

My best recommendation is that since this topic is fundraising, if you have a Fundraising Coordinator then all of these types of ideas can be presented to her, via e-mail, discussions offline, etc. She can then present the ideas to the committee.

Effectively you have the Fundraising Coordinator run interference.
