We do an ice cream social with our bookfair. We have a local Ice cream restaurant come in they do all the scooping, serving, setting up everything.
We just prinit out the flyers for our presale tickets to get an idea of how many, but you can also buy at the door also. The parents love this and look forward to it each year.

You could do a family reading night. Our school is having one tonight to go along with the book fair and the read a thon w are doing this week. The kids are so excited! We are sellin costco pizza and drinks and popcorn and have guest readers. Also, the kids are bringing blakets and pillows to sit around the gym and read with friends and family. The book fair is going to be open also. The time frame is 5:30-7:30. Hope this helps!

We incorporate Grandparents' Day with our book fair. The grandparents will come for a short assembly where they will hear a few songs sung by the elementary kids or maybe a play and then everyone breaks up and goes to their grandchild's classroom where they receive a gift that their grandchild has made and meet the teacher. Then to the library they go with their grandchild to hear a story and browse through the book fair. After library, the will go eat lunch with their grandchildren. This is a huge success!!!

If it's an evening event maybe offer some type of entertainment puppet show, magician etc. The kids can watch the show while the parents may wnt to shop? Just a thought.

How about having the students dress up as their favorite literary character. You can take pictures and maybe give out prizes or trophies for various categories.
