What to do in case of a teacher's strike?

15 years 8 months ago #144948 by K5PTO
Ummm. homeschool? My teachers went on strike when I was in 3rd grade, and there is nothing more demoralizing to a student than facing an angry picket line with his/her teacher in it, yelling, etc. It makes you feel like you are devalued. Message from teacher: money is more important than you. Little kids don't understand or maybe understand too well.

They were not right near the school, but my bus had to get past them.

I think the PTO should stay as far out of it as possible and avoid any hostility with either the teachers (the "T" in PTO) or the administration (the people you need to help you get things done!). My suggestion is to just wait it out. The strike will soon end, and it will be business as usual.

All:

Our teachers will be on strike starting tomorrow. Any tips/ideas/suggestions for what, if anything, PTO's are doing in similar situations? My instincts say there's not a whole lot we can do, but chime in here if you have any experience with this in the past!

Thanks!
