PTO EXPO 2010

I attended the Expo in Murfreesboro this year. This was my first expo, so I didn't know quite what to expect. My Vice-Pres bailed on me the day before I left, so I had to go by myself. Overall, I wasn't that impressed. Again, I didn't know quite what to expect. I thought there would be more interaction with the other attendees, more information and ideas shared, etc. There was just a big room full of people wanting to sell stuff. I visited each and every one though. My school is unique in that we are only allowed one fundraiser per year and no kids are allowed to sell (technically). So, I was ready for some new ideas. A had a couple of vendors blow me off (rudely) when I told them how many students we had and how much our usual fundraiser nets. I had some vendors that really wanted to help, but couldn't figure out how due to our restrictions. There was alot of information there, but ALL about the vendors.
I guess all my information sharing will be stuck to the website.
Thanks for the opportunity to come share and learn.

Thanks Kim- love to hear it!

We just got back from the Chicago Expo and had a blast. I believe we had a record # of attendees. A lot of happy people leaving with full bags and new ideas.

Here are our remaining PTO Expos for 2010 :
  • April 13th - Minneapolis, MN (Brooklyn Center)
  • April 26th - Murfreesboro, TN
  • May 4th - Columbus, OH
Also, register & attend an Expo for a chance to win $1,000 for your school.

I went to the one in Conroe this year. We traveled about 4 to 5 hours and rented a room. TOTALLY worth it!!! Next year it will be in the budget to cover room and gas.

We will be flying from Spokane Washington to Chicago...so we will have some bigger expences. What can I tell our board to convince them to let us go? We are going to get our own flight. Thanks for your help.
