My school used signupgenius, basecamp, volunteerspot and we never got traction and ended up having to use a bunch of tools to make things work. We started using this fantastic tool, SchoolCollabo 2 years ago. It's free and does more than just manage volunteers, it sends out reminders, has these great newsletter templates and lots of messaging, an online school directory, allows us to collect payments, build our own forms, iphone and android app just a ton of stuff.

I highly recommend it, first our elementary school started using it now there are 5 schools in our county using it including the huge high school. I think the url is www.schoolcollabo.com. Check it out!I don't understand how more people haven't heard about it, but I don't think we could go back to how things were before.

I was school webmaster and used signupgenius for years but found it pretty limited so I created www.ourevents.net -- you only need to remember that Url to see all the upcoming school events. Plus many other useful features such as an online school directory, surveys, and auto-publish events to your school web site calendar just to name a few!

I have used signupgenius.com for 6 years and it is fantastic! It keeps adding features, event themes, and easy options for optimal flexibility. I use it for everything I am involved in ranging from sport team snacks/season end parties, scout troop and den activities, room parent and PTO events, and large school wide events that require a huge number of parent volunteers and donations. I have never had any parents complain about using the online signup. Rather as soon as someone discovers it, they quickly start using it for their own events. It is also very easy to copy and transfer signups to another person. Subsequent chairpersons love inheriting the signup from the event the previous year so they can edit it and make any changes they want. Signupgenius is the ultimate time saver and sanity saver!

We use Volunteer Spot all over our school – parents love how easy it is to sign up and the automatic email reminders. As the book fair and carnival volunteer chair, it was a lifesaver for me, and our cafeteria chair would quit without it. www.VolunteerSpot.com

We are very interested in getting something like this too. I am curious to hear how other people are doing this.
