Agree. Get the kids to do a demonstration - then the parents will come.

I agree, getting the kids in some sort of contest or presentation will bring in the parents.
Also, we try to draw more people by offering a gift basket in a free raffle. Try your local Starbucks or a warehouse store like BJ's. You can also raffle small gift certificates like McDonald's or Dunkin Donuts.
Good Luck.

I agree with jerseygal101. If the kids do a performance as part of the activity, more people will come. Think grandparents.
Also, as people are asked to help out, they often bring others with them.
Maybe you could do a few other things than just dance - games, door prizes, food? Maybe pig calling - it is a square dance.
Maybe offer line dancing too and some silly dances like to chicken dance and the hokey pokey.

We don't do a square dance, but we do an ethnic dance night. The best way to get people to come out (for us) is to have some mini-shows, featuring the children. When the children are in a show, they want to come, and who brings them? The parents of course. Or, just another thought that popped into my head - dance contests, like they used to do int eh 50's. Marathons, best dancer etc. I assume that you make it a costumed event? If not, encourage costume, and best costumed prize? I dunno....I'll keep thinking. Good luck!
