New Donuts with Dad topic

Do you have the Dads RSVP? Thinking about suggesting this for an event this year. We live in a very industrial/farming area. I'm just not sure how many dads would be able to come. Many work more like a 7-3 and not a 9-5 and they would have to take time off from work to attend. I suppose we could try it and see how it goes.

When you have it start at the same time school starts, how do you work that with the classroom teachers? Our principal is a stickler about "wasting class time." Do the dads really stick around for a while or do they just grab a donut and take off.

We used to do it in the cafeteria from 7-8, but it was sooooo crowded what with the children trying to go through the line for breakfast.
Our school has a courtyard, so we set up tables there with coffee, juice and donuts(Krispy Kreme has a fundraiser price of $2/dozen). From there, the dads could go into the classrooms with the kids. The early time frame seemed best because dads were more likely to not mind being a little late for work rather than have to take time off if it was later.

I have now have the benefit of two personal examples on this one. At the school we just left, Donuts, muffins, milk and juice are served in the classroom when school started at 8:55am. They also did the Muffins with Mom the same way. I highly prefered this.
The new school we were at, did it an hour before school started at 7am. (At least they did muffins with mom then, I assume they used the same time frame for dads)
It was held in the gym. Personally, I'd rather take a few extra minutes off in the morning then get up and out an hour earlier. It's hectic enough as it is.
Also, having it in the classroom, the Dads/Moms got a chance to see a little of what the kids were doing in class. Parents could stay and help out in the classroom afterwards if they wanted to (which a few always did) I felt far more connected that way.

We always do it in the classroom, however, if you have dads willing to take the morning off, I say kudos to your principal for allowing them all to the classrooms. Maybe they could read a 5 minute book too or something fun like that.

Our donuts for dads always starts at 7am-8am when school starts, it seems easier for the dads to bring their kids and be able to not have the excuse of having to take off work.

we've decided to do the donuts with Dad this year and our principal wants it to start when school starts and have the dads (or uncles/grandfather/friend) go into the classroom to eat the donuts.

Has anyone ever done it this way?
