We are going to use our music teachers sound system. It has two big speakers and you can hook up the sound system to the vcr.How many people did you have at your movie night? Did the kids have a hard time seeing the projector screen? I think I am going to make a screen out of white sheets. The only thing is I don't know how to achor to the wall. We are having our first viewing on Monday afternoon. Wish me luck!

We did a movie night last year in the cafeteria and it turned out well. We used a projector hooked up to a dvd player and used a projector screen. For sound, I used my surround sound from home (but it was not nearly as loud in as it is in my small house).

What are you all using for sound?

I thought about using the walls but they are brick and you couldn't see the film. Thanks for the input on the screen. Our gym is small and we have no stage, so we will have to achor it to the wall some how. I think it will work. Thanks again!!!

We had our first movie night last year. We have a stage in our cafeteria, and a great new sound system, but no screen. Our president made a HUGE fabric screen using extra wide fabric from a real fabric store (not just a department store that sells some fabric).

I think the screen is 10' top to bottom and 15' wide. I'm pretty sure there were only 2 seams (vertical) which didn't show at all when the movie was playing. With those dimensions, you'd need 10 yards of 60" good quality muslin, cut into three 10' lengths and seamed. Then she fastened the top (and bottom?)to a 2x4 which the custodians strapped to some rigging in the ceiling of the stage. All in all,it cost us less than $50 and we can reuse it over and over. With the new sound system and that screen, it was like being in a real theater.

Do you really need a screen? Is it possible to use the wall?

We have just purchused a annual movie licence for our school and are planning on having a few movie nights and all school movie afternoons. What I am trying to figure out is how to make a big screen for our gym that can be removed from the wall and stored or used outside. I thought I had read once about someone using sheets or something along that line but can't remember the details. I would really appreciate some ideas on what others have used. We will be using a digital projector and school sound system, What do you think???
