How about dinner, dancing, and a Who's Who awards. Ya know, like Most likely to... Prettiest smile... I'd make sure each kid got an award. You'd have to be creative on your awards to make each different.
Examples:
Best french accent (for someone that's traveled to France
Best Bratz collection
Biggest collection of shoes

What age do you think this is appropriate for? Is it too young for a 6-8 school??

I really think the idea is cute!

We host a Winter Ball (Family Dance)every year. Students invite their parents, we hire a DJ and everyone dances. In addition to actually dancing (i.e. embarrassing our kids), the DJ play the chicken dance, hokey pokey, and we had a hoola hoop contest. Everyone loves this event. The kids have fun laughing at us parents, the parents look forward to dancing with their kids. We also have a photographer and serve cookies and lemonade.

For decorations, the winter theme is easy, Christmas lights, trees with just lights on them and we have a 4th grade class cut out giant snowflakes to hand on the walls. The gym looked great.

What a great you gave and I was thinking to use this as our Mother/Son event this year. Its all albout decorations. Buy lots of toule(wedding stuff) and provide lights behind food table and maybe even a DJ or band.

hhhmmmmmm

The first thought that came to my mind is the craze with Texas Holdem' and maybe a rated "G" version of a Las Vegas night. Instead of money, bets are placed with wrapped candy with set limits. Otherwise activities that will encourage families to met and catch-up with each other. Maybe even a silent auction of artwork by the students mixed in with really nice items (I would even set limits here as to make it more of a familiy night than a fundraiser).

A special dinner that is catered would be a really nice touch.

This is really a neat idea!

This year my school will host a Parent Prom - students invite their parents to school on the designated evening for refreshments, pictures, etc. It is a "Sunday dress" affair! I love the sound of the event - but am at a loss of activities to do w/students & their parents. I'd thought about an local woman who has an etiquette business who could demonstrate simple forms of deportment, the PTO will take pictures (similar to prom pictures w/back drop) - any other ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
