First Timers Doing Carnival - HELP!!

To address your question on food, here's what we have done in the past: We contacted the closest pizza place, and asked what was their best price on a larger quantity of pizzas. We told them it was for a school carnival and that we would be ordering through a 4 hour period. We ordered 10 at a time for the first 2 hours and then 5 at a time for the last two hours. We just had a cell phone nearby and kept calling the pizza place to say, bring us 5 more, they only needed about 15 minute notice. It worked out really well for us. Our food area was located near the cafeteria, by which a loading dock and gate were nearby and the pizza guy could just pull right up and deliver it, really quick.
I also agree with the tip about using tickets for your food instead of cash, so your servers do not need to worry about money or giving change, plus you'll keep the money all in one place with the ticket sellers...
Good Luck!

I'm curious myself, gab_pto, why no weekends? Just from experience, Saturdays are a great day to have a festival of sorts! I think there is more time for the kids to play and for the families to enjoy themselves. A big event like this one needs a whole day to complete it!

Life is crazy as it is, that's why I don't watch soap operas!! <img src=images/smilies/smile.gif>

gab_pto, what is your reasoning behind not having it on a week-end?

I wouldn't suggest doing your festival on a weekend. Perhaps Friday evening. That's when we had ours. Each teacher did have a event in their room. Have your Principle mandate the event. The teachers will receive comp time most likely.

Can you please send me the Excel worksheet - it sounds great! My address is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I love the ideas about the teachers having a game in each of their rooms, however, I'm not sure that my teachers are going to go for it. They have had a really bad relationship with the PTO this year, so if you have any suggestions on how I can get them on my side to help for next year's fall festival, I would be very appreciative!!

Do you normally do fall festivals or spring carnivals and do you have any suggestions on either dates? We are thinking of the fall on a Saturday because a surrounding town has theirs in the Spring. Do you have any suggestions on teh first things we should do to get our planning underway this summer?

Thanks for all of your help!
