We used to do a Cake Walk at our yearly Carnival. A few years ago we noticed the cakes weren't coming in that well so we changed it to "Desert Walk". We ask the room moms from every class to get 3 people to donate a cake, pie, cookies, muffins, brownies, cupcakes, etc. This has worked out so much better, and we receive so many! The Cake Walk costs 2 tickets (.50cents). We have numbers 1-20 on the floor, the volunteers start the music and the participants walk around on the numbers. When the music is stopped the volunteer pulls out a few numbers and those people standing on the called numbers get to go choose a desert of their choice. The people on the other nubmers all receive a Carnival Buck, these are used to purchase things off the Carnival Buck table. This is one of the most popular carnival games we have.

We do a cake walk every year at our Family Harvest Night but use individual pre-packaged "Little Debbie" or "Hostess" cakes. They don't cost much and always have enough for all children to win.

You can take the same concept, but use different prizes. When our public library has their annual Family Fun night, they have a "Book Walk" and give small books as prizes.

We did this last year, and asked for donations in our weekly newsletter. One thing that we did that I haven't seen mentioned, is we asked that either the recipe or the list of ingredients be attached to homemade cakes. That way people with food allergies didn't have to worry about what was in the cake.

We do a cake walk at our spring carnival. We ask for donations of cakes, pies or cupcakes. They can be homemade or from the store. Our carnival is a family fun event, we only charge a small fee for games. We aim to break even, not make money. Our Cake walk is 50 cents. We have carpet sample squares on the floor in a circle and draw small carpet pieces from a basket. The cake walk booth is open till we run out of cakes. WE may do a cake or candy walk at our bookswap night. Everyone really seems to enjoy it.
