No worries volsmommy. We've all been called upon at the last minute. It's probably a compliment because they know we'll say yes and do a fantastic job. ;)

I'm sure your bulletin board turned out great. And you learned a few things for next time!

While you're here, take a look around and soak up all the free advice. There's info out here on every subject under the sun. Have fun!

I am sorry if you were all offended I was asking for help and yes this looks like a great place to get it my problem was I found out I needed to do this Friday and it needed to be completed today. I found ideas and ran with it. I know that Rome wasn't built in a day but unfortunately my board had to be. Thanks for all of your advice and sorry if I offended you.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

I am not a creative person at all. I really worried when I had to create bulletin boards and a teacher told me to use a mag from the library. I think it is called Mailbox.

I was actually going to respond to your post the other night when I got distracted (doesn't take much for me) I thought I had some sites marked but I can't seem to find them. Here are some sites you may find useful.

atozteacherstuff.com/
teachers.teach-nology.com/index.html
educationworld.com/

Since this has been a popular theme you could probably search the archieves on here or use a search engine.

Paula, dlf is right. You would be truly blessed to find a place with more people willing to share their time and creativity than here at PTOtoday. The traffic is slow on the weekends but help is always here.

I have some suggestions for your bulletin board project. For long term displays, I like to use fabric. It looks nice longer and hides pushpin holes due to frequent changes of decoration/info. For short term displays with little or no changes, wrapping paper is great. It's pliable, easy to work with and comes in such a wide variety of patterns.

After the event, leave the background up and post photos of families and staff members who attended.

Remember that the night sky is beautiful. Have fliers printed about what will be visible in your night sky the evening of your Open House and encourage attendees to pop outside for a look!

When I heard the Learn'd Astronomer by Walt Whitman.

When I heard the learn'd astronomer;
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me;
When I was shown the charts and the diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them;
When I, sitting, heard the astronomer, where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon, unaccountable, I became tired and sick;
Till rising and gliding out, I wander'd off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look'd up in perfect silence at the stars.

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Books permit us to voyage through time, to tap the wisdom of our ancestors. The library connects us with the insights and knowledge, painfully extracted from Nature, of the greatest minds that ever were, with the best teachers, drawn from the entire planet and from all of our history, to instruct us without tiring, and to inspire us to make our own contribution to the collective knowledge of the human species.
