Dole (the Fruit Company) has something like this on their website and I've seen responses/ question on this before-- I beleive the turnout would be good -- maybe set up 1 or 2 booths/classrooms up as ethnic stores (ie group as a little Koreantown, Mexico, Italy, etc) you could incorporate customs or crafts, too

Someone told me about a Community FFN they did years and years ago. Each classroom represented some aspect of the community - a bank, a grocery store, a Mexican restaurant, etc. The kids earned "money" the weeks before the event; they could then spend their money at FFN - buy a cookie at the bakery, etc. The police department could bring the police dog, the fire department, Lowe's might be willing to do a room with demonstrations, etc.

Has anyone tried this? I am thinking it would take a great deal of prep - but wouldn't be too much work the night of the event.

Thanks in advance for your ideas and suggestions!
