Maybe contact the local Red Cross and/or YWCA about babysitting classes. They may have a supervised group of older kids who could plan a fun evening for your students as one of their class projects. One of my son's schools did that whenever they had a parents only speaker scheduled. The kids loved it and the parents could speak more candidly with the guest.

How about a reading party? For our reading night, we are doing a western theme, and making vests from paper bags, "branding" them with sponge stamps and paint, and eating "smores" poptarts.

We are having a dinner and auction. But we want to have an activity for the children in the gym, while the auction is going on. Anyone have any ideas?
