ice cream slices for social?

16 years 10 months ago #134463 by lhennessy
We also have an ice cream social every year as a "welcome back" to school. It's very well attended by both families and staff, so it's a great way to introduce our PTA, programs that we support, spiritwear, etc.

Our local ice cream parlor gives us a break on costs for the ice cream and toppings. Plus they cut the giant ice cream tubs in half, which makes it a lot less messy and easier to manage.

ice cream socials are a great way to introduce your PTO and get new volunteers. you can call it "get to know your PTO night".

we had an ice cream social thank you for all our volunteers. we scooped ice cream into foam bowls you can purchase in bulk at Sams.

The cafeteria has carts with shelves and trays. we were able to fit about 20 bowls on each tray cart. we wheeled the cart into the school freezer and kept it there until the event.

then we set up a table with toppings and let the kids and parents have at it. it was easy to do.

try writing to your local ice cream stores. We won a grant for an ice cream social from Meadow Gold Ice Cream for 300. they delivered those ice cream cups.

We do an ice cream social for our graduating 8th grade class a few days before school is out for the summer. We have a local deli that will scoop hard ice cream into plastic cups and deliver to the school. The cost is obviously much more than purchasing the ice cream and scooping ourselves but it is well worth it. Our middle school has trouble at times to find volunteers for all the events and this allows us to focus on one less thing. We purchase toppings and have the kids make their own sundaes.

The kids always have a great time with this event and it is a great way to end the year.

We have an ice cream shop here and they will provide the ice cream (in speciall coolers to stay cold), toppings, cups and spoons along with employees to scoop for a set price. Makes it much easier for us and the ice cream is really special!! We send out RSVP forms to we can give them a good estimate on what we will need.

soft serve machines are very sensitive to being moved. I doubt they can be rented. However, if you cannot find the slices in your stores, ask your local ice cream stores if their suppliers offer it. sometimes, they have access to products, but they just don't want to carry it. They may be able to order for you.

Our Sam's Club usd to carry the presliced ice cream. I don't shop there anymore, so I can't say for sure if they still do.

If you don't expect too much from me, you might not be let down. <img src=images/smilies/smile.gif>
