The frame idea is a excellent one! I think you could do this even if you didn't have a photographer. If you're looking for more craft ideas familyfun.go.com/
is always my go-to place!

Have fun!

Anyone have any craft ideas? My first idea was to get a local photographer to come into the school and take pictures of the students with their special person and together they could decorate a frame. I have to get permission first so I was looking at other options just as a back-up!

Thanks

We called our grand friend day. This way they could bring me anyone beside their parents that were special to them. The children sang songs, did arts and crafts with their friends, we took their picture and mailed it to the grand friends at a later time. Everyone had a great time and everyone had a representative.

Hi, we also had some concerns regarding children who do not have grandparents--so we call it "Breakfast With Me" --each child is asked to bring in a special perosn, of thier choice, to enjoy breakfast with in the lunchroom. It is quick and easy to do--the PTO pays for all the "special people" who come in for breakfast. We actually have two--1st week K-2nd next week we have 3rd-6th grade--so not to have overcrowding.

Our school used to do grandparents day but it was very sad for those kids who didn't have grandparents around. It's been changed to "Special Persons" day. The children can pick one special person in their life, be it a grandparent, parent, aunt, uncle, mentor, whoever. This took care of the issue of those kids who didn't have grandparents that were able to attend.

We also had a grandparent's tea and the children loved it! We wrote that grandparents or a substitute grandparent were welcome. The children sang a few songs they were learning and read a story and then enjoyed tea and cookies. You could maybe also do a craft or something as well.
