For Movie Night at my school, we have concessions where we sell nachos $1, hot dogs $1 (grilled before time by a willing dad), popcorn $.50(having your own popcorn machine makes this so much easier), candy $.50( Reese's, M&Ms, Nerds Ropes, Skittles, Starburst, etc.) sodas and juices $.50, and bottled water $1. We do not charge a fee to see the movie and make all of our money on concessions. Typically our Movie Night is on Friday night starting at 6 pm. Our families love it.

We have two showings of the movie on a Thursday and Friday night. We are serving pizza for a $1 slice. Our door prizes are movie tickets.

Nachos go over very well and it are cheap. A can of nacho cheese with a little water to thin it out, goes a long way. I can buy a can of cheese for around $6.00 this will give me 50 -60 servings, which sells for $1.00 a serving. I put the chips in bowls before everything gets started, great time saver. This has been a great crowd pleaser and easy money maker.

One idea that we have used is to approach the local movie theater. If you reach out to them with enough notice they will often donate anywhere from 2 to 4 large bags of movie theater popcorn. You can purchase popcorn bags online and go from there. I would recommend bagging before the event as they go fast and the lines will back up, you'll prevent a mess and the popcorn will taste the same whether you bag it then and there, or do it a few hours in advance.

Other than that, what about a bake sale?

Good luck,

Well i got the approval, so now i am moving ahead with it! I am really excited about it! I just was wondering if anyone could tell me some ideas to do for concessions and how many volunteers i will need. We have over 800 kids in our school and i am sure we will not have them all there but, i am thinking with the response i am getting from our community we will have close to abouit 200 people show up for our first movie. I want to make sure we have enough to offer without over doing it. What are some things you all have done for it? Do you do an intermission, if so when do you do it? What about door prizes or raffles? What kind of food did you serve at your concessions? What kind of donations did you request from people in your community? I live in a small place so not really a whole lot of options.... so any help anyone can give would be of great help!
