Thank you for your great ideas! Keep them coming. I need a clever and eye catching name for the family math night event.

We've done the Wheel of Wisdom show throughout the years. I believe they have a website - you can do a search for "Wheel of Wisdom". It's similar to a game show, and the kids have a blast. They can gear the show to math questions, or whatever you're interested in. Not sure what your budget is, but everyone, including the teachers, sure had fun. Good luck!

Hi Merrie Jo -

How about "Add up the Fun" or something similar? We do a family math night, but it's part of a series of nights that we have called "Parent Partnership" nights. The kids are involved and the parents get to learn how their kids learn. We've done everything from giant game boards on the floor with a huge dice to roll, Challenge 24, pyramid flash cards for fact families, and one station was set up for auditory learners with math songs. We do four of these parent partnership nights a year - math, language arts, learning styles, and ASK testing. The Home and School provides refreshments for all of the parents and students. There are great math balls available that have math facts printed on them. When you catch the ball, you have to answer the math fact that is printed where your hands land. Maybe you could get everyone into a circle (or several circles by age and ability) and have them toss the ball around and answer the math facts. This is fun because everyone gets involved and I guarantee that they'll be laughing by the time it's finished.

Greetings! I KNOW that there are very creative people who frequent this message board - so I've come to you! I need to plan a Family Math Night and need help. First of all - anyone have any clever/catchy names to call the evening? This event will be for K-5 students and families. We'll have grade appropriate break out sessions for families to participate in hands-on activities, that should be the easy part. But I need a clever title and something fun to do at the end when everyone comes back together. Any ideas for a math based performance or activity that all ages could enjoy? It's always good to send them home feeling like they had fun! Thanks.
