Need new ideas for upcoming year

I found Sheila Rae Productions - Home . She is great and easy to work with. We hired her to do "Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader" on bullies for our kids last year. This year we are going to have her do a live cooking show -"Like the one you see on Food Network". I attended one of her events last Friday Night. What a blast. It was sponsored by a United Way group to strength marriages. It was called "Kissin in the Kitchen - Dessert Addition." Sheila told me afterwards the group came up with the name and this was their second event in less than 6 months. The first one sold out and they sold more tickets this time but in a bigger venue. What I liked and I think families would like is that she can set up a full kitchen on any stage and cooks right in front of them and gives hints on how to make cooking a family activity. She connects math, science, English, history, art and health to cooking. I know our school is always looking for ways to make connections.

In conjunction with our Family Fun night, we're having guitar hero and dance revolution contests between parents and their kids. A ton of people have rsvp'd which has never happened before and it is bringing out the older 6, 7 and 8th grade kids who usually think they're too cool to attend school events. It's a lot of fun and I think the parent's have more fun than the kids!

Doesn't have to be complicated. This wk for the olympics we're going to eat chinese food with chopsticks, and sit on the floor around the coffee table on pillows (I hope none of that is politically incorrect-wife's idea but sounded cool to me). We'll make leaf prints in September on wax paper to put in the windows till Halloween. Then we do pumpkins. We always do the same things, and the seasons develop a rhythm.

Showing more love for our business donors.

One of my goals for our booster group is to find an activity to give back to the businesses who regularly donate to our cause. We are always asking for donations from local businesses, yet what do they get from us?

We recently helped our local Lions Club with one of their big festivals, and we will most likely be planning a Poker Walk and hope to use our "business friends" as checkpoints to bring people into their businesses (this is still a work in progress...)

Sesame Street and Antique Road show! - I'm also kicking around the idea of asking parents and our high school students to help our local Public Television channel during their big auction and membership drive. The kids love to be on TV, and the Public television channel loves the extra help.
