We do a candy scramble. In a gym, have all the kids stand along the walls, then dump candy and eggs(some with candy and a few with prize tickets) in the middle of the floor and say go, the kids run to the middle of the floor and pick up candy and eggs. We divide the kids into age groups.
HOW ABOUT: you buy like 1,000 different plastic cups, invert them in diffent areas and put eggs under them intermittently. You have to have rules...like perhaps they are on tables and they can only pick up one egg at a time (monitored) and whoever finds the egg can move to another location, or maybe they are lining the walls...and everyone can walk around in front of them to music and like musical chairs when the music stops they get to pick up a cup and take the egg if there is one underneath.. Something like that...d
I have to ask the question: why did ONE person's objection change the entire event's location? It seems that this has not only added to the stress of finding creative ways to "hide" the eggs, but also added to the budget as you will know need to purchase extra materials to make hiding places. I guess I'm just curious what happened.
Can you hang things from the ceiling? Maybe you could hang a bunch of paper streamers at varying lengths with plastic eggs stuck to the ends. Hang plenty of them high enough that kids would have to jump to reach them! Using paper streamers instead of string or ribbon would be safer, I think.
