We had our Family Reading Night in conjuction with Read Across America. That morning, the school hosted a book swap for the students. That night, we had Family Reading Night. We had 2 stations set up: one in the cafeteria, one in the library. K-4 went to one station for 20 minutes and 5-8 went to the other station for 20 minutes. Then they swapped. The library station was our Service Learning Group. They dressed up and performed to Dr. Suess books. The cafeteria station was some members of our local fire department. One member read a book about fire departments or fire safety. Then, for the older group, two fireman had a contest about who could get in their full turnout gear the quickest. The families cheered them on. For the younger group, we let the kids dress up in fireman gear. It was really alot of fun!
