Event attendance obstacles

Yes- last year was the worst for people staying away from events because of swine flu scare. We are hoping that this year will be better. Think that is a good idea to let families know that we are going to have anti bacterial stuff everywhere at events to prevent the spread of germs. We do a supply drive for teachers 2x a year -- think we will add this to our list.

Last year we had to cancel 2 family events. One (Family movie night) because there were so many families that had the flu and the second (Our spaghetti supper) because people were afraid of germs. This year we are having people RSVP to events so we know what kind of numbers we are dealing with. Also, we had our nurse do a flyer about healthy habits and guidelines of when to keep your child home and when to keep them home from school events. We also have "advertised" the fact that we have anti-bacterial hand wipe station in our lobby and in the caf (where a lot of our events take place). Hopefully it'll keep everyone healthy and will make people less nervous about germs spreading.

Event Attendance: Did fear of cold, flu, and virus germs being spread affect your numbers at family events at all last year? How is your group addressing this issue this school year?
