19 years 2 months ago #125289 by LUVMYKIDS
Beyond the care package-go to your favorite card store and buy enough goofy get well/thinking of you cards to be able to send one to him every day of his convalescence!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

schwan's food delivery... check out their website to see if they deliver to your zipcode.

Frozen food was a big plus at our house too because often we were to weak to cook, but we could throw something in the oven.

How about one of those arm reach extenders?

My mother sent me a BELL. I could ring it when I really needed something otherwise no one in the house could hear me. If they heard the bell they came running!

Include menus from delivery food places, like pizza, chinesse, etc.

books to read, magazines. Reader's Digest, short stories that put one right to sleep!

Remember the "nurse" telegram in Ferris Bueller's Day off? "Heard that you were feeling blue, stomach, headache or the flu.....?" Yeah, that would be funny!

Let's see--
- batteries for the remote
-gift cards to fav take out/delivery places
-if he has cable, do they offer a pay per view gift card?
- Sports Illistrated swim suit issue...from last year!
- I've seen in stores DVDs you can buy for a $1 and they are reruns of classics like The Honeymooners or Rin Tin Tin
-is there a grocery service he can order from online....info about it may help him out!
And my Mom's fav while she was in the hospital, pictures my kids did for her...just brightened her day and space!
.....she also loved the DVDs....something different!

Well, I guess it has to do with the time of year and the fact that I'm so close to Washington, but my first thought was a book of political humor. Jon Stewart's latest one is supposed to be quite funny, and safe to give as a gift regardless of the recipient's party affiliation. If you know your friend's political leanings, type "political humor" into Amazon and you get some other options.

If he's into British humor, I'm pretty sure that all the old Benny Hill and Monty Python stuff is packaged in gift sets now--both audio and video.

This is totally outside PTO stuff, but I thought I'd draw on your creativity.

We have a close family friend in another city who will have surgery next week and be recovering at home. He's not married and has little family in the city (his kids are grown and living in other states). He also has a wonderful sense of humor.

I'd like to mail him a humorous "care package" and am looking for ideas.

Any ideas of things to put in it???
