Little lighter topic.. Summer plans?

18 years 11 months ago #125532 by Debbieomi
Our only firm plans are Cub Scout day camp in June. After that I want to hit as many local fairs and festivals as possible. We also like to hang out at the parks that have concerts, usually on a Saturday night. Camping will come into play at least a few weekends. I bought my son his own tent for his birthday and he's really wanting to use it. I think we'll give it a trial run in the backyard first. And of course, the beach will be on our daily agenda also. I think my son was a fish in a previous life..lol.

LUV, don't you just luv it? We had four games this week and next week we have six. Our state tournament is over in July and the next week starts football two-a-days.

Our town is hosting the 10 year-old World Series in August, so we are vacationing at home this year! I am getting to put all my PTO organizing and fundraising to good use.

Hope everyone has a SAFE and sunburn free summer!

Softball is a long way from ending especially with all the make ups we need due to rain. We may be able to borrow a friends houseboat for a few days on Lake Marblehead so we can go to some amusement parks and up into Canada. We've thought about the beach but I need to be close to home to care for my mother. And the bank account is a little low after my sons show choir group went to NYC over spring break and are going to FL to perform later this month. I guess we may have to leave through him for now but dang he takes terrible pictures!! And wouldnt you know it the car was in the shop and cost 3x what we thought. Thankfully we have a pool and the tennis courts are close by so I guess that will be pretty much it for us- unless our rich uncle passes on. LOL

Scottmom,
Great idea.
I'm amazed a the amount of non profits in general that have board turnover every 2-3 yrs depending on bylaws (and to a large extent regular public and private companies) have no concept (or dont realize how easy it can be) of a chairmans planning guide, event evaluation or roadmap from the year before to pass on to the next batch of chairman or boardmembers. I will be putting together a notebook of details of my last year as Treasurer and sometimes President so that no one will have to go into this blind again and better yet, so I won't have to do it all from scratch next year. It seems I will also have to have gall bladder surgery and I'm really not looking forward to trying to take care of but not being able to lift my 21 month old. I also have baseball games to attend and my husband promised the bigger boys a trip to a theme park toward the end of summer. Honestly, I'l like to lock the kids in a padded room with a tv while I lay in bed reading trashy books all summer, but we all have dreams!

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

I can relate to the swim team bit. Then throw in 4-H club lambs, hogs, and chickens going to the County Fair and that's our summer! I love it, though. Being a sahm and having my summers to spend with my kids is the best! Somehow I end up looking forward to September, though...
