2014 Ultimate Donation List

The organizations I help are in Southern California so Disneyland is a hop, skip and away. I tried to get a hotel room a few times but no luck. Tried to get a hotel stay for San Francisco since we get a lot of donations from that area but was only able to get a two night stay at the Omni last minute.

We packaged items separately. I read you get more bids that way and it seemed to work better for us that way.

Last year we were able to put together several packages - but did not have airline tickets in any of them. Most places we had are close enough to drive> Most folks in our area (North Carolina) drive to Florida when going to Disney anyway. I was able to get a few mote/hotels by calling their front desk and asking to speak to manager. When I told them other admission tickets/passes/etc. they would sometimes agreed to one to two nights stay. WE had 4 motels total, so some of the packages only had attractions/restaurants/ etc. We send out many letters and go with what we receive.

Reading the posts, It sounds that people try to put a package together with airfare and hotel stays, but that most are not having any luck. Maybe you could try to look up some lesser known attractions in the Orlando area? State in your letter that you received Disney tickets and are trying to put together a travel package.

But I think the bidders who bid on the tickets by themselves, are already planning on going to Disney for their vacations and would just use the tickets as an add on to their planned trip.

From what I've seen Disney offers 4 one day hopper passes to the park, How do y'all make this worth their while (the buyers)? Unless you live nearby the family would still want/need to buy more tickets for the other parks, correct? I know my kids would not be happy with only 1 day of Disney parks. Have you had any feedback on this??

I will say that with Hilton Hotels, I requested online through their contact info (Texas), and I received a donation reply within a couple of days, but I also had an activity that was in the area. ( I informed that Moody Gardens (in Galveston, TX had donated tickets & U needed a 1 night hotel stay because we are 4 hrs (1 way) from Galveston. I really do think it helps to have an activity/function in the area and then you can request 1+ nights of hotel stay. I know this site is more for Northern regions, but if there are southern states looking to this site for fundraiser help/advise, then the Dallas Cowboys donated 4 tour passes in 2014 which was $100 value, and were a HUGE hit at our auction.

Agree with percentages of donations received for number of request sent. Also agree that it's better to receive a "no" than not to hear back at all

Sent emails to 12 local attorneys last night per Susie's inspiration--asking for 3donation of their services for a simple will for one of the its in our silent auction

it will be interesting to see if i hear from any of them. We started having silent auction at our bazaar 5 years ago and I discovered this site the second year. What a huge help it has been to me. Thanks!
