Hi Veronique - Technically, you're not really switching. You're closing down one entity and starting a different entiry. If your ABC School PTA now, then it's perfectly OK to be ABC School PTO as your new group. Tim

Do we still have to pay the PTA membership fees? We still have an bank account under the PTA name. We still have to close the account correct?

You should probably take a step back and review some of the info and links from this page: http://www.ptotoday.com/pto-vs-pta Once your PTA disbands or dissolves, you don't have to pay PTA membership fees. That's one of the big reasons why so many groups make the switch. Yes, it's often easiest to spend your PTA funds down to zero, close that account and then open a new PTO account. It is OK to open a PTO account before the PTA account is closed. Again, the tow organizations are entirely separate. Tim

Is there a way to transfer PTA funds to a PTO account? We like to keep a little cushion in the account for the following year, really don't want to spend it down.
