Question: Reimbursing Teachers by the use of gift cards for helping with a school event?

My question is, do any other PTA/PTO organizations offer their teachers/staff gift cards, to use in their classroom, in return for helping/volunteering with a school event/function? Last year our school gave each teacher a $50 gift card, to use for their classrooom, in return for working and helping out during our school carnival. Many parents, myself included, are unsure if this is something that is normally done?

We do not. We do allow teachers to submit receipts and get reimbursed for certain classroom expenses, up to $50. That method is somewhat common around here, and there's no requirement that you provide any volunteer service to get that reimbursement.

Hi there,
Yes, have to say the way mum24kids describes things is more common.

We do not do that for teachers. We offer parents that volunteer a 2 hour block at our bookfair - their child's classroom gets $10 to spend in the book fair (we use our scholastic dollars for this). It helps increase the volunteers and also puts books in the classroom.
