People who joined disolved PTO and started another.

This was a group of people who have never been to a meeting nor worked any fund raisers. To join all they needed was two dollars-They gathered their friends and acted like a linch mob. These people get involved then everything goes dormit. Like others befor me I did my best and now it was disolved by people with large Ego's. They don't want to work they don't even have kids in elementary. Our bylaws admitted anyone. Our PTO had more members and had made more money than this school had seen in a long time. People just don't care-But Thank You for all your help.

First of all, check your bylaws. Ours has a very clear procedure for dissolution which involves a 2-month waiting period, a very high quorum, 2/3 majority approval, and all the PTO's money goes immediately to the school board. OK, assuming you don't have such clear guidelines in your bylaws, I suppose you are bound by what your members approve. Now, if a new PTO is formed, start by adopting a Constitution and Bylaws that will protect your organization from this--and many other matters -- in the future. Good Luck!

I think your question needs more clarification. You say your group was to hold elections. Did this happen? In order to dissolve the PTO, the "new members" would need to do this as per the by-laws. If a vote was taken to dissolve, it should have taken effect immediately, unless a specific date for dissolution was given in the resolution that was adopted to dissolve.

We were to have elections and these NEW members(less than a month) Disolved PTO. They did not like-Who knows what? Can another PTA or PTO start the same night?
