Allocated Funds

The problem with changing the allocation of monies is primarily that members at one time voted on that expenditure. They supported fundraisers with the notion of where their money was going.

I personally would continue with the original arrangement but certainly consider the shade structure as our next endeavor. A marquee is definately a non essential but good thing to have. For something like a shade structure I would imagine you could get the community, businesses and school board to help with the funding.

I would recognize the shade structure being a great idea and have a motion made to refer the whole matter to committee. When they are ready with the logistics of the matter I would accept their recommendation as a motion and the membership could vote on the issue.

I will certainly look into the reallocation of funds. I am sure their is a way if it comes to that.

Our PTO allocated funds for a new school marquee at the end of the last school year.
We are going to be adding to the funds with our fundraisers this year, as the marquee is a fairly big expense and we didn't raise all of the funds last year. Now a school parent/s are questioning our priority of a school marquee versus, she would rather see those monies go towards a shade structure for our playground. (We live in the desert and it is obviously very hot this time of year).
My question is: Once monies have been properly voted upon and allocated (which we have done), is it set in stone that we have use those monies for that purpose? Or, can you vote to use the monies for another purpose/expense if the board and membership votes to do so?
