small residential school

That's quite a unique situation you have at your school. I can see where parental involvement could be difficult to coordinate.

One suggestion I have, if you haven't done it already is to build a website for your group. That could be a great resource for communicating back and forth with parents.

There are also online fundraising options available.

Hi everyone!
We are a newly resurrected PSSO for a small residential school. Our families are spread all over the state and there is only one day a year when we have all of the parents present at the school.

We have approx. 75% residential students and 25% day students. We also have over 100 students who come to our school for between 2 and 12 weeks a school year from all over the state for special training.

I am looking for ways to build community and parental involvement among this geographically diverse group of people. We also face unique fundraising challenges.

I would love to talk to other PSSO/PTO/PTA leaders from schools facing similar challenges!
Thank you!
Kathryn
