New Pto Needs Help With Fundraisers

Good question...

Our school is slightly less than 500, which profitted us ~ $8000.

With your school being 750 I would say you should expect to profit $12,000. That may be a bit less than you are hoping for, but at the same time if you are making > $15K with catalog sales, maybe you'll do even better than we do. At the same time we haven't tried student incentives yet, and that could possibly push things a bit as well.

Hope this helps.

President Jim,

Our parents want to sell something different next Fall and have suggested candles. However, I have some trepidation over this because our catalog sales profit $15,000-$18,000 each Fall. We have a $23,000 budget to meet. We sell Easter candy in the Spring and that nets another $15,000-$18,000. We have 750 students with 35-40% participation. I guess my question is, do you think we would do as well selling candles as with our catalog sales? I know this is going to be a huge debate at our next meeting.

Just an update on our Yankee Cnadle fundraiser...

The product came in last week, which is great as it is in before the holidays as they promoted.

Each order came in a seperate box or boxes, with both the teachers name and the students name. All we had to do was separate them to make the pick-up easier. If the order had more than one box it was indicated on each box as 1 of 3 or 3 of 3, etc.

I don't work for Ynkee Candle or anything, but this was such a well received fundraiser, and so easy and profitable that I wanted to share.

Regards,

I don't know if you have Market Day available near you, you can find them online. Welcome to Schoolpop is an online shopping site that has popular retailers that gives you a percentage back. Scholatic Book Fairs, Ice Cream Social, Themed Basket Raffles. Our school has done more community based fundraising as opposed to catalog type ones. People are getting bombarded with the catalog fundraisers. Good luck

In addition to these types of fundraisers you could also try recycling used printer cartridges and cell phones. There are several companies that offer these types of recycling fundraisers. Our school has been using FundingFactory for several years, but we also know some other groups that use Green School Project. They both pay cash for used inkjet cartridges, laser cartridges and cell phones. FundingFactory recently added books too. These fundraisers help bring in money throughout the whole year!
