Families winning more than one Basket

15 years 1 week ago #149072 by JHB
The only way I could see you justify one family winning no more than one basket is if each family gets one and only one chance to to win - like a door prize drawing with a limit of one ticket each, so once you've won - your ticket is no longer in the pot to be drawn again.

Otherwise what they are paying for is the chance to win. If they buy more tickets, they have higher % chance of winning. To limit the chances of winning after allowing them to BUY those chances is fixing the game - that could even be seen as illegal by some.

Why would anyone buy more than one ticket??

It's hard to imagine a scenario where this would work out well for you.

Wow--I'm not sure I would have signed up for the approach you're taking. This is a raffle, you can't make it a level playing field--sometimes people are just plain lucky. They buys their ticket, they takes their chances.

I'm not sure I would support your plan either. I may be off base here but I can definitely see people holding back or even not supporting.

Sorry.

Our Spring Dinner and Basket Raffle is this Friday. In years past, it turned out that several families won 2 and 3 baskets, yet didn't really spend any more money than others - just lucky. Apparently many people were upset about that and the principal and PTO Board agreed we should limit it to one basket per family so more people could walk away with a basket.

Our plan was that if we pulled out a raffle ticket of a family that already won a basket, that we would give them the option to trade that one in.

However, one of the board members overheard a parent saying they weren't going to spend as much since winning is limited.

Does anyone have any experience in their basket raffles about limiting the amount a family can win?

Thanks in advance!
