I DESPISE Scholastic. The local barnes and nobles run a type of book fair, contact your local BN and ask about fundraising for schools.

Our Montessori school (K-3 and 78 students) has recently seen the quality of Scholastic take a dive. The selection is poor and, I agree with others, there is suddenly little of literary merit. Although our students read at a very high reading level, because we have a small number of students, we are consistently denied a "larger" fair. Rather than running as a "fundraiser", we take the book profit for our teachers and library. However, after the fall fair, our teachers were unable to even pull quality titles. Scholastic reps were not helpful at all. We are at a loss! What to do for a new fair provider???

I, for one, love Scholastic! Scholastic provides great books at great prices. I have never had a problem working with them. They have been nothing but professional and helpful. If I needed to change a date or eliminate "junk stuff" from a fair, they have always done what I asked. There are no other companies who can do what they do!

Has anyone gone on the Box Tops 4 Education Website: BoxTops4Education.com - Earn Cash For Your School!
They have a Book Club, when you register you let them know how many kids you have per grade level they send you book order forms for that grade to send home with the students. The parents make their book selections make a check out to: Box tops 4 education, send the form back to school you send the master order form in and then the books are shipped to the students. Afterwards the school receives a check. I have done this book club and have not had a problem. Mary

We have used Scholastic in the past but are trying "Books Are Fun" in the fall. My son's school had one of their fairs and I bought more at his than at my daughters Scholastic fair. The selection is much better, more activity type items, and the price is right. I don't know where it is available but you might try - Books Are Fun . Books Are Fun is through Readers Digest. Hope this helps!
