If you have a Books A Million in your area, call them about doing an in-store Book Fair. We did one to benefit our Band Boosters in December and made over $400 with no effort accept advertising it on social media and our district web site.
The way it works is that a day is picked and your school or organization earns a percentage of sales that day. The cashiers ask each customer if they would like x% of their sale to benefit XX school, etc. They have a member card program also where members may donate the percentage they would earn back on their card.
Now, if a school were to do this and send home fliers, really hype it up, you could make big bucks and still get books into the hands of the kids. BAM is a discount book seller and they have a HUGE selection of marked down books, too.
We had to have a representative at the store from 10 am to 6 pm but we took shifts. You can make a nice little display about your school/organization. The next time we do this, we will actually have our jazz band play for 45 minutes and perhaps some of the other band students play selections. The store manager made lots of signage throughout the store promoting the book fair.
There is another company that offers a wide selection of books from various publishers. I think there called Supremebookfairs Anyway I believe everythings done online, I haven't tried it yet but it sounds pretty good.
If you are in the Southern California area try Mrs. Nelson's Book Fair Co. They are a family owned and operated business that blows Scholastic out of the water with both their service and selection. If you are Illinois contact Anderson Books who are also a family owned and operated business.

Recently, I was on the hunt for a new book fair provider. I called Barnes and noble but since we are not in the US they could not help us but said they do book fairs state side. Worth a try?
