Bake Sales.. yes.. we just had another successful Election Day Bake Sale, by asking for DONATIONS instead of pricing- we made over $1200 for the day...........

Penny Wars are good, and can earn MORE money if you have classrooms compete. Not only do they put pennies in their OWN jars, but anything else ( nickels, dimes, quarters, etc.. and Any bills) can be placed in an opposing team's jar and that counts as a NEGATIVE number for that team.

So, for example, the 4th grade and 5th grade are competing against one another. Freddy 4th grader puts 30 pennies in his jar, and that counts as 40 points toward his team. Then he goes and puts a $1.00 bill in the 5th grade jar, and that counts as -100 points for 5th grade.

It's remarkable how much money gets dumped in the jars ( use the big water cooler water bottles)

another idea is to have a raffle with a limited # of ticket sales. Sell 400 tickets for $20 each, ( that's $8,000 cash) and then make the first prize $1000, second prize $500 and the third prize $250. People have a 1 in 400 chance of winning $1000,= staggering odds! and you still clear $6250. The trick is to sell OUTSIDE your school community so that you bring in fresh money.. not keep tapping your parents.

Try a bake sale. Get the parents involved and have them, the teachers, the local bakeries/grocery stores donate items: whole cakes (sell them whole - they go like hot cakes!), cookies - 3 to a bag for $1, muffins, rice krispie treats, donuts, etc. You'd be suprised how much you can make.

We have been through this and I sympathize with you. The big thing here is to maintain parental support or no fundraiser you do will net much of anything. I would encourage you to be very open with the parents with what happened and how it happened. Make sure they know you are an all new board and you have such and such controls in place to make sure this never happens again. Good luck!

Penny wars. Classroom against classroom. Kids love to raid their piggy banks on this one. It's been mentioned a while back on these boards. Maybe you can search for it that way.

Walk-a-thon, read-a-thon, pretty much anything with a "a-thon" on the end of it works!

Sometimes after stuff like this hits the fan, you loose parental support. I wish you good luck.
