Revoking Check-Writing Priviledges

4 years 8 months ago #173148 by gjcoram
Has the family made good on the bounced check -- and the any fees your bank imposed?

I wouldn't think a form letter would be necessary. A couple times I had to deal with bounced check, one was because someone hadn't balanced the checkbook properly; another time it was that the person had lost the checkbook and closed the account between giving the PTO the check and when we deposited it. In all cases, the person has made good on the original amount and the fee.

If I had someone bounce a check or two, I would probably see if the bank can tell me if the account has sufficient funds before I try to deposit the next, or ask the person. I guess it depends on how much of a nuisance it is to handle the bounced check.

Hi mooney0904,
Glad you're finding our resources useful. Currently we don't have the template you mentioned but you might be able to find one from another leader via our PTO and PTA Leaders & Volunteers Facebook group. Check it out:

Good luck.

Hello,

I am a new PTO Treasurer and I am in the process of creating the Financial Policies and Procedures since there aren't any currently in place. I am currently working on the Check Policy and how bad checks are handled. I already found the Dealing With Bad Checks article, the Bad Check Control template, and the Letter Template to send when the PTO receives a bad check.
However, I am looking for a letter template to send when check-writing privileges are revoked. Does anyone have a template that they can provide? I am putting in the Check Policy that if 2 checks are returned during the current school year that check-writing privileges will be revoked for the remaining of the year.

Thanks in advance.
